When is Root Canal Treatment Necessary?

IRoot canal treatment, also known as endodontic therapy, involves removing the nerve from a tooth, cleaning the root canals, disinfecting them, and sealing them permanently. It is an alternative to tooth extraction. The procedure is painless as it is performed under anesthesia.

A dentist will determine the need for a root canal after a comprehensive examination, including a digital X-ray (which can be done at our clinic). Typically, a root canal is necessary:

  • If the tooth is severely decayed and the decay extends to the nerve.

  • When the tooth’s pulp is inflamed due to an infection or trauma.

After the procedure, it is important to avoid eating hard foods and drinking very hot or cold beverages. Any discomfort, which is minimal, should resolve within a few days.

Take care of your oral health and don’t neglect regular dental visits!
