Dental Granuloma - A Dangerous Apical Infection

A dental granuloma is an infection that occurs at the root of the affected tooth. In most cases, it doesn't cause problems and can be detected during a routine dental check-up or through an X-ray.

Several factors can contribute to its onset, such as tooth injuries and fractures. Dental decay can lead to infections like pulpitis, periodontitis, dental abscesses, etc.

Once detected, the dentist will analyze the size of the granuloma, the degree of infection, and any possible complications. In the early stages, endodontic treatment may be performed to eliminate the infection. Additionally, depending on the case, the doctor may prescribe antibiotic therapy or opt for surgical intervention.

We recommend our patients undergo routine check-ups, as untreated dental granulomas are infections that can affect the teeth, jawbone, and other organs, and may contribute to the development of maxillary sinusitis.

Don't delay your visit to the dentist! The sooner you act, the easier the treatment will be!
